The meeting ended.The replay didn't.

Read it once. Return to it the next time it happens.

CARE is an interactive guide to emotional flooding, written for adults with ADHD who recognise the sharp reply, the sudden silence, or the conversation that keeps running long after it has ended.

Measure it against what one unmanaged flood costs: the evening lost to the replay, the repair conversation the next morning.

Dr Ketan Bhatt
Dr Ketan Bhatt Twenty years of diagnosing ADHD. Then I got the diagnosis myself. From understanding your ADHD to working with it. Your version isn't a variation of anyone else's. Writes The Context Shift.

What this is not

  • Not a course.

Nothing is scheduled, nothing expires and there is no week two.

  • Not a habit-tracking app.

The tracker is there if you want it. It does not remind you, chase you or score you.

  • Not something you have to finish before it works.

Open one prompt and use it today. Read the rest when you want more.

What readers say

Traditional therapy approaches mostly just made me better at avoiding actually feeling. The “why” matters, but the “how” and “what” are just as important.

Nicole, The Context Shift reader

I have never been diagnosed with ADHD but you just described my entire working life and the reason my career keeps stalling.

Kern, The Context Shift reader

Nobody at work would have guessed. Camera on, notes taken, right questions asked. Inside, I was holding the whole day up with both arms. Then a chapter named it, the flooding that happens behind a face that looks like it is coping. I did not cope better. I just stopped pretending to myself that I was.

Myriam, CARE reader

A guide to read.
A toolkit to return to.

You don't have to finish the book before you can use a prompt.

Ten chapters, five descriptions of flooding patterns and six interactive tools. Start with the part that interests you. Come back to the rest when you want more detail.

This is not a CBT workbook. CARE works with the state you are already in. It does not ask you to reframe or reappraise before the flood has passed.

  • The guide and profiles

Ten chapters on emotional flooding, the CARE framework and where it shows up day to day. Five descriptive profiles with a short reflection quiz.

Read in any order. The profiles are patterns, not diagnoses.

  • The interactive tools

A guided CARE sequence, a breathing pacer, a reflection journal and a tracker for reviewing your own entries over time.

Prompts and places to reflect, rather than a blank page.

  • The prompt cards

Printable pocket cards, and phone or desktop wallpaper versions. Keep the four stages somewhere you will see them.

Something to return to without finding the chapter again.

Inside the guide
  • Understanding emotional flooding

  • Context, Aims, Risks and Experiments

  • The hours after a difficult moment

  • Patterns across work and relationships

  • Shame, exhaustion and what they cost

The CARE guided sequence, on the Context step. Tabs read Type, Context, Aims, Risks, Experiments, Done. Under 'Name what is happening' are tappable body-state chips such as jaw clenched, chest tight and words gone, with a Back and Next button below.
The guided sequence. Tap what your body is doing, then move through Context, Aims, Risks and Experiments at your own pace, with prompts tuned to the pattern you selected.
The breathing pacer: a single slate-teal circle labelled Ready, with three pattern options above it (4-7-8, Long Exhale, Box) and Begin and Reset buttons below.
The breathing pacer. One circle to follow and three patterns to choose from. Three or four cycles is often enough to notice a shift.
The five flooding profiles screen: a row of five tabs (Hidden Flooder, Reactor, Shutter, Ruminator, Anticipator) above a description of the selected profile and its tailored CARE sequence.
The five profiles. Read the one that sounds most like you first. Each profile has its own version of the CARE sequence beside it.

Four prompts, one situation.

A meeting has ended. You are still composing the reply.

Here is one way someone might work through that moment with CARE. The answers are illustrative. They are not instructions, and not a prediction of what will work for you.

In the product, the guided sequence links each prompt to the pattern you select. This is the simplified version.

Context

Name what is happening.

An illustrative answer

"The meeting is over. My jaw is tight, and I'm still arguing my point in my head."

Flooding doesn't always look loud.

Five ways it shows up. You may recognise more than one, or different patterns in different situations.

  • The Reactor

The reply comes quickly. The regret arrives afterwards.

  • The Shutter

The words are there. Getting them out is not. The room reads it as indifference.

  • The Ruminator

The conversation ends. The replay continues.

  • The Anticipator

You are rehearsing what could go wrong before anything has happened.

  • The Hidden Flooder

You look fine. The conversation moves on. You are still running a full sprint inside.

These are the guide's descriptive profiles. The quiz that goes with them is a reflection prompt, not a clinical assessment.

Practical questions.

What if I buy it and it doesn't click?

Email within 14 days and you'll receive a full refund, no questions needed. CARE is meant to be useful from the first session, not a commitment. If it is not the right fit, you should not be stuck with it.

Is CARE a PDF, an app or a course?

A browser-based interactive guide and toolkit. It includes the reading, six tools, and cards you can print or download. It is not a scheduled course, and you do not need to finish the reading to open the tools.

What does the purchase include?

The ten-chapter guide, five descriptive profiles, the reflection quiz, the guided CARE sequence, breathing pacer, journal, tracker and pocket cards. £19, no subscription. Check the final amount and terms at checkout.

Is this just another CBT framework?

No. CARE is not CBT, and it does not ask you to challenge thoughts or reframe situations. It works with the state you are already in: naming what is happening, identifying what you actually want in the next twenty minutes, and considering what small experiments might be worth trying. The structure is simple enough to use when you are flooded, not only in the calm afterwards.

Do I need an account?

No separate CARE account. Checkout is handled by Lemon Squeezy, and access instructions arrive with your purchase.

Where are my journal and tracker entries saved?

In your browser, on the device you use. They do not sync between devices. Clearing browser data can remove them, so use the export options to keep a copy.

Is CARE a treatment or a diagnostic assessment?

No. It is an educational resource for self-reflection. The five profiles are descriptions used in this guide, not diagnostic categories. It does not give personalised clinical advice, replace your own care, or promise to stop emotional flooding.

Read it. Try a prompt.
Keep a card nearby.

A guide and toolkit for returning to the questions, in whatever form you choose.

There is no pause before anger arrives. Thanks for validating that for me.
